Recently, I have been traveling around quite a bit.

Whether it’s for work purposes, or recreational, every time I travel I make sure I carry some essentials with me all the time.

I like to travel light which means every item I have with me must have a purpose. It must be versatile. Whatever the purpose of travel, it should not be just sitting around and wasting space in my backpack.

That’s why I select each and every item in my EDC very carefully.

I am a remote software engineer. Outside my day job, I also blog often and create YouTube videos. Of course that means, I need to have a remote workstation on me at all times.

Everything considered, this is the EDC essentials that work for me. I have used it quite extensively this summer and can confirm it works wonders for me.

So, let’s get to the items now.

Herschel Classic Backpack

I use a very simple and compact Herschel backpack. It’s relatively cheap, spacious enough for me and seriously portable.

It stood the test of time pretty well. I bought this backpack back in 2018 and took it literally all around the globe as my primary backpack. It’s not showing any signs of aging at all.

In terms of price, it’s much more economical than some other options I see all around the YouTube and Medium tech community.

The backpack also has a padded section for keeping laptops or iPads. At the front of it, there is a small pouch padded with microfibril cloth to keep some of your more scratch prone items.

The backpack does an amazing job housing all my other items. It’s robust, compact and really easy to carry.
